๐Ÿšฃ Venice: A City in Danger?

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Venice, Italy

A beautiful city built on water.

Today, Venice has a big problem. Many locals, particularly the young, are leaving the city. Why is this happening?

  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Expensive Property: Homes in Venice are very expensive. It’s difficult for young people to buy their own homes.
  • ๐Ÿ“ธ Millions of Tourists: Venice welcomes millions of visitors annually. The large number of people in the streets can make daily life difficult for residents.
  • ๐Ÿ’ผ Job Challenges: Finding a job is hard. If someone doesn’t want to be a gondolier or work with tourists, there are very few other jobs.

Why do people stay?

“I know that it’s a very special gift to live in a city such as Venice… I can’t imagine living anywhere else.”
โ€” Giovanni dal Missier (Venice Local)

Thanks for inviting me to stay for the weekend. I’d absolutely love to come.
You asked about decorating your room. Why don’t you paint it a bright colour, like yellow? How about we go shopping for some posters when I visit?
Write back soon!
